The TP-LINK Wireless N Access Point TL-WA801N is designed to create or extend a scalable high-speed N wireless network or to connect multiple Ethernet-enabled devices, such as game consoles, digital media adapters, printers, or network-attached storage devices to a wireless network.
Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can
report it here.
Kids, I have it for 2.5 years, many times it gets stuck and shows on the phone that you are on the internet but the access point is not. Also, many times it drops the speed too much for no reason, while if I connect to the router, the speed is normal. I don't know what else to do, but it's not worth it.
I wanted a single WiFi in my house. That's why I got it, but it didn't cover me because I had constant interruptions in the WiFi. Maybe I haven't made the right settings. In the access point I have now, I have two WiFi networks. (WiFi 1) and (WiFi 1 plus). It works perfectly fine there.
Sometimes it needs a restart.
When I used it to view my home camera, it would freeze.
I had to put it somewhere else.
Also, when I used it for audio airplay, it would freeze again.
I had to put it somewhere else.
Give an extra 5-10 € and get the 901 that I have, it hasn't created such issues
Very good product, with a very basic interface. It doesn't do fancy things like iptables routing, firewall, cron, etc. However, it supports well-known good firmware. Although it also comes with a locked firmware, it can be unlocked with command injection. It can support OpenWRT and DDRT (be careful, if you're not Linux geeks, you should look for one that also has luci). With this small upgrade, it is excellent.
When he doesn't want to connect, he doesn't connect with anything, reset, restart, set up again, nothing, he will only connect when he wants to, useless product.
I made the stupid mistake and bought it 3 months ago.
For most TP-Link products, there is still no patch for KRACK, which poses a security risk for you.
Stay away from WA801ND at least until they release a patch for KRACK (if they ever do)
I put it to send data from a photovoltaic. I put it once about a year ago and since then I forgot it exists... It has proven to be very reliable, stable, and without any problems.
update 30.10.2019: it continues to work perfectly.
Before I start.. I don't know if this specific model is like this or if mine just has a problem!...
Positives:
Very easy installation, Very lightweight (even the charger), it is beautiful (not that it matters..), it has PoE.. meaning you can use a small adapter (which is included in the package) that takes power and the Ethernet cable and provides a PoE cable.. which is Ethernet with power, so if you connect it to the router it works.. Convenient if you want to have it in a place where there is no nearby power outlet.. (it didn't serve me for now), for the router's interface I believe it is good (I can't judge since I don't know).. it gives you an Ethernet cable (I think it's 1 meter)..
Negatives:
TERRIBLE SIGNAL!!!! the router you get from Cosmote (which its antenna is inside the board) is MUCH BETTER!.... Then the other... Constant disconnections... One moment you have internet, the next you don't..
Edit: Finally, I made a mistake and had the same IP as the original router (192.168.0.1) and it caused problems in the ENTIRE network :P.. I changed the IP and now everything works fine..
Edit_2: I bought another one and the setup took 2-3 minutes... So you don't struggle when setting up an access point, plug in the router, turn it on, and then either connect directly to the router with an Ethernet cable or via Wi-Fi... type the router's IP in the browser (192.168.0.254).. enter the username and password (username: admin, password: admin) and click on quick start... enter the name you want the router to have, password, etc... and *change* the DHCP option to static and the option to assign IP automatically (because later it blocks with your original router which assigns an IP for each device on the network) and also change the IP to be different from the router's.. for example, the router has 192.168.0.1, you will put 192.168.0.150... These were the mistakes I made and for days I was breaking my head and the router didn't work...
