[...] The book consists of seven chapters (the number did not arise from the influence of this "magical" number). This first chapter is introductory. The second examines the historical evolution of concepts and technologies, and introduces the basic concepts that run through the rest of the book. The third chapter develops basic ways of thinking that are encountered as they are or in combination in the other chapters; these ways appear in Computer Science, as well as in other areas of knowledge. The fact that they are usually not encountered in pure form was the reason I placed them in a separate chapter. The fourth chapter deals with theoretical and practical machines, their properties and parts. Each theoretical machine describes a Type of theoretical and practical machines. The fifth chapter examines operating systems, networks, the internet, and the World Wide Web. The sixth deals with programming issues, introducing different Types of Programming, based on the Types developed in the previous chapters. The seventh presents approaches to Computer Science in the "construction of the Type", in the production of new entities.
One can classify the chapters into three Types, but not particularly "clean": the third and fourth are the theoretical, methodological, with elements of philosophy. The fifth, sixth, and seventh are more technical. The second has elements of history, although historical elements can also be found in the other chapters.
