Description

In August 2015, the thirty-five-year-old (formerly famous) painter Leon, with a substantial advance payment in his pocket for the oversized painting The Secret Supper of Communism, leaves a large Greek city and a woman named Martha behind and retreats to a highly primitive village in Pindus, where he prepares the studies for the faces of the commissioned painting: twenty-three heroes of the timeless, global Left. The painting, when completed, will be exhibited for the 100th anniversary of the "October Revolution".

From this village, he sends Martha letters referring to the crisis in their relationship, the studies he is painting, jogging, and the idyllic life of the mountainous area - until slowly he realizes that something is not right with the women in the village.

The novel subtly comments on many themes simultaneously, including feminism, left-wing utopia, pure Greek countryside, religious fervor, and male psychology. For a more comprehensive understanding, it is recommended to view Leonardo da Vinci's painting The Last Supper in parallel.
