All peoples had teachings of ethics, but they did not study them with the spirit of mechanical obligation that our era's ethics has and imposes. These teachings had radically religious character and ontological goals, that is, they wanted to spiritually complete the human being and solve all his issues, including what we call metaphysics today. "Dhammapada" is such a masterpiece Buddhist text, the study of which was a way to achieve high purposes. In it, Buddhism and its spiritual values are presented with unique beauty and purity, resulting in this text being also a great literary work.
