Description

The defense and security of states are composed of many variables. These depend on their own political capabilities - and what they do to increase them, and on how neighboring countries behave always in relation to the broader international environment. The Greek nation is very close to zones of increasing fluidity. Crises and new geopolitical relationships in the Balkans and the Middle East, with high or direct American involvement, but now also with a highly competitive Russia, directly affect the course of Greece and Cyprus. In a ranking of the problems of Greek foreign policy, there is no doubt that Turkish revisionist policy remains first by far, expressed in words and deeds. The ruling elites in Greece and Cyprus, especially in recent years, wanted to relegate and downgrade it. Despite the conciliation and concessions of the Greek side, Turkish aggression remains strong, increasing entrapment and pressure.
