Because we have not yet discovered economic methods for storing large quantities of electrical energy, the proper functioning of Electrical Power Systems (EPS) requires the continuous regulation of the generated real and reactive power to cover the continuous changes in load and losses. Beyond other difficulties, ensuring this continuous balance is disrupted by various disturbances, the most significant of which are short circuits. The reliable operation of EPS under these conditions is examined and interpreted in this book to facilitate their design for operation under all adverse conditions. Although the emphasis of the book is on understanding and analyzing the basic problems of EPS, the development of the topics is complemented by the description of the methodology for analyzing EPS with a Computer, which is necessary due to the size of EPS.
