Today, a fourth industrial revolution is underway on the planet for the transition of the global economy from the era of fossil fuels to the so-called solar economy. This transition has at its core the development of renewable energy technologies (RES).

This book presents the most important RES technologies and their impact on the environment. Particular emphasis is given to the more mature technologies, as well as those of special interest to Greece. At the end, there is a separate chapter presenting the environmental impacts of the main RES technologies included in the book.
