The iconic 11th thesis on Feuerbach by Marx - "philosophers have interpreted the world in various ways, the point is to change it" - continues to engage social and theoretical forces in a direction of rupture towards the capitalist order of things. Tangible evidence is the movements against the so-called globalization of capital, but also the ideological resonance of works such as "Change the World Without Taking Power" by John Holloway, one of the most important theoretical representatives of these movements.
However, the author Alexandros Chrysis chooses to critically address Holloway's positions. As a fervent supporter of a theology of refusal, Holloway fails to dialectically address critical relationships such as those between science and ideology, the state and revolution, movement and party. On the other hand, the necessary rupture towards the Stalinist or Blanquist version of politics does not justify the rejection of the rich tradition of revolutionary Marxism that Holloway proposes. The proposal to change the world without seizing power may sound pleasant to the circles of a postmodern "Left", but ultimately leads to a deadlock in the very project of revolutionary transformation of bourgeois society. On the contrary, the Marxism of Lenin, Luxemburg, Trotsky, Lukacs, Gramsci, through the internal tensions that define and constitute it, does not belong to the past but comes from the future, being today, above all today, a guide for action in the multifaceted conflict with the capitalist system of power.
