What to Consider Before Buying?

Where will you place it?

Do you want to monitor the interior of your home, office, or store, or do you plan to place it outside to monitor the surrounding area of an installation? In the latter case, make sure that the camera you will purchase has waterproof protection and is resistant to weather conditions.

Video Resolution Selection

A camera with Full HD resolution at 1080p will provide you with good image quality, allowing for relatively good recognition of faces and objects. For even higher resolution recording with very good clarity, you can choose a Full HD+ camera, while a selection with 4K resolution will allow you to distinguish even the smallest details. Determine your basic need as well as the monitoring requirements of the installation space and choose accordingly!

Data Storage and Access

Examine the way data is stored and accessed by the camera. For example, an IP camera is wirelessly or wired connected to the installation space and in most cases, data storage can be done on an SD card, on a network or hybrid recorder, or even through a subscription cloud service. On the other hand, analog cameras (CCTV) are connected via cable to a recording device or a monitoring screen, in a closed circuit, allowing for monitoring of the installation space.

Night Vision Functionality

If you are going to use the camera for monitoring during the night, choose one with a night vision function. Depending on the model, they allow for recording in low light conditions or even in the dark, through infrared LED technology.
