The dinosaurs are so real that the reader thinks they will move!
This is a treasure of a book, one that will be read and reread many times, retaining all its charm each time.

After many years of research, artist James Gurney discovered the unknown diary of Arthur Denison, a 19th-century explorer, in an old bookstore. Denison's previous travel memoirs, published as Dinotopia: A Land Apart from Time and Dinotopia: The World Beneath, revealed a lost island where dinosaurs and humans live together peacefully. Now, Professor Denison and his companion,
Bix, a Protoceratops, embark on a dangerous journey to the forbidden empire of Chandara. When their personal invitation from the emperor is lost, they are forced to cross the borders penniless and in disguise. At every step they take, Denison meticulously records the creatures, characters, and architecture he encounters: a village made up of three ships placed upright, a fifteen-meter-tall Brachiosaurus equipped for firefighting, an Allosaurus caring for its young, young pilots conducting aerial jousts on giant pterosaurs, and much more.
The land of Dinotopia is presented through brief but vivid narration and a charming variety of illustrations, such as maps, cross-sections, and machine diagrams. The lives of humans are intertwined with those of dinosaurs and ancient mammals.
