I had the chance to meet Kostas Krommydas in person two summers ago, at a book presentation in my hometown, Kastoria. I remember, back then, I was in my third year of high school and wanting to take a break from studying, I decided to attend the book presentation. K. Krommydas, as many of his readers may know, was particularly friendly and kind. We got to know each other, talked, and I was impressed by the connection and relationship he had with his readers. His speech convinced me and I decided to read "Ouranoessa" (Skybound).

The story of the book takes place in Samothrace in 1940 and also in the present day. The author, in a direct and vivid way, takes us on a journey through the alleys of this beautiful island.

The protagonists of the story are Andreas Stais and his grandson. The former has a lifelong dream to discover the head of the Nike of Samothrace statue and for that, he will try to do the impossible.

At the same time, fate brings him closer to a woman who will impress him and win him over from the very first moment. The same fate reunites them years later, and here one should wonder if the same fate that brought them together can easily separate them.

Meanwhile, Andreas Stais' grandson, who lives abroad and visits Samothrace for a sad event, meets a mysterious woman who will bring to light dark secrets that will even threaten his own life.

Through the pages of the book, it becomes apparent that unexpected events occur, that mistakes and sins of the past continue to influence the present, and that love can determine your life. The attraction, passion, and love between the couples Andreas-Zoe and Andreas-Iro seem to play a crucial role in the development of the plot and the continuation of the story.

It is evident that the author manages to perfectly depict his characters without easily revealing the mystery behind them. His narrations come alive before your eyes! His descriptions transport you to a wonderful space, to a vibrant reality. His language is simple and everyday, without tiring you.

"Ouranoessa" is the book that you must definitely read if you are a fan of books with historical elements. It doesn't lack suspense, mystery, passion, or love. It is a book that deserves to be read by all of us!
