Description

Wage labor is the employment status in which the overwhelming majority of citizens in developed countries are placed in today's world. The masses, especially of new entrants, are the insecure carriers of cheap labor. This undeniable fact is emphasized by the continuous increase in part-time employment. Labor polarization, expressed by the formation of the huge and universal mass of wage earners, is countered by a small but powerful group of employers.

Insecurity is a critical element of today's relationships. The most efficient control of workers is now insecurity about the future. Exploitation is very effective in exercising power. Subordination, the other side of dominance, is so massive and mechanical that daily exercise of managerial power is not required. The care for dependents to remain active and their sustainable acquisition demonstrates the success of dominance through exploitation. It is the most improved version of capitalism until a superior one is invented.

Employment, as far as developed countries are concerned, is focused on services. The state is simultaneously the largest single employer in prosperous capitalist countries. The few large capitalist enterprises and their wealthy owners follow in employing wage earners.

The relationship between entrepreneurship and competitiveness and their contribution to employment and social welfare is far from widespread. Substantial entrepreneurship, with significant contribution to employment, exists in a group of giant enterprises. Competitiveness is the quality of many smaller enterprises, which have very limited contribution to employment and specifically to wage labor.

The claim for labor autonomy, along with the simultaneous overcoming of wage labor, fully corresponds to the evolution of means of production, technology, and techniques for utilizing human time. Enterprises have established cooperation within the framework of new methods of work between independent workers and formally employed workers. While they benefit from this competitive advantage, they are indifferent to the reflection of economic efficiency in the productive institutional structure of today's society. Their indifference is coordinated with the intolerance of market forces for social rights and democracy.

The hope for labor and social autonomy becomes the subject of systematic intellectual experimentation and an alternative proposal. The expected organization of work establishes autonomous producers in all activities and eliminates human dependence.

Labor autonomy is synonymous with freedom. Whoever swears to freedom can only demand labor autonomy. Labor autonomy strengthens the status of the citizen, without both being limited by the distractions of economic relationships in modern democracies. The democracy of our future transforms economic efficiency into absolute freedom. This utopia can be realized immediately.
