Description

The propaganda in crisis-ridden Greece is a regime because it is the reason for polarization. The reason for polarization can only be propagandistic. We can say that polarization constitutes a form of open class warfare - which means not necessarily a situation of civil war with armed conflicts and mass killings, but certainly a situation of mass and intense dissatisfaction of the lower classes, shrinking of the middle strata, widening of the gap between upper and lower classes, and consequently, for the first time post-dictatorship, a situation of precarious and threatened class domination. In this warlike class situation, the social regime in Greece could only resort to the most directly "warlike" form of political discourse, namely propaganda - if we define the latter by extending Clausewitz's well-known definition of war,
as the continuation of political discourse by other means. And these "other means," as in the case of war, are the systematic and organized use of violence. The exercise of violence in this case is the distortion of truth: propaganda violates truth - systematically and organized. With the goal, as in war, of achieving victory over the opponent - in this case, with the goal of preserving class domination, with as painful conditions of life as possible for the ruling classes.
