Description
Along with the thousands of Pontian Greeks who left their holy homeland and came as refugees to mother Greece, there were also many families with the name Gavras, descendants of Saint Theodore Gavras. One of these families was that of Leonidas Gabrielidis - formerly Gavras - of George and Sophia, who narrates to the author the adventurous life of his family, as well as that of his wife Cleopatra, in order to compose this autobiographical novel. The Gabrielidis couple returned after exactly half a century from distant Australia to the special homeland of the main hero Leonidas, in the town of Stavroupoli in Xanthi, where he also recounts the countless philanthropic acts of his parents and relatives, as if the spirit of their holy ancestor passed directly into their own bodies, philosophizing life in their own way...
