"The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" takes place almost a century before the events of "Game of Thrones" and includes three stories that serve as the prelude to George R. R. Martin's masterpiece titled "A Song of Ice and Fire." These adventures, presented for the first time collected in one volume, narrate events from the time when the Targaryen dynasty still held the Iron Throne and memories of the last dragon's existence remain alive.

The young, naive, but brave wandering knight Ser Duncan the Tall surpasses his opponents - if not in experience, certainly in stature. Accompanying him on his adventures is his tiny squire, a boy named Egg - whose real name (and closely guarded secret) is Aegon Targaryen.
