Ancient gods looking over the mortals' pots, saints craving pies and donuts, rebetes and asikides singing the passions of love while longing for mezedes, beggars and sultans, kings and revolutionaries, but also cooking guides, proverbs and rituals, folk poems and literary novels emerge from pots, pans and baking trays and tell enchanting stories, sweeping us away into a colorful celebration of the senses. For example, a baking tray proudly boasts that it once baked a "stuffed turkey", while a teaspoon fondly remembers participating in the "submarine treat" at the Patriarchate.

During this pandemonium, many of the narratives piqued my curiosity, and in search of more information, I would stumble upon a new story each time, and the cycle never ended.

However, my search was not philological or ethnographic. It was more experiential and eclectic, drawing inspiration from readings and listenings, images and associations. Writing about the known and unknown life, the adventures and wanderings of beloved dishes, I paradoxically felt that it was the narration of my own, of our own life.
