The Otovent package contains a special balloon and a special attachment that helps secure the balloon to the nostril. The ear muscles are exercised by regularly performing exercises with the Otovent by blowing through your nostril into the balloon via the special attachment.

The product can be used in any situation where there is an inability to address the negative pressure of the middle ear (Eustachian tube dysfunction, middle ear infection with fluid collection, during or after a flight, after diving, treatment in a pressure chamber). These conditions, if untreated, can lead to a temporary feeling of heaviness and hearing problems. After a few weeks, fluid may also accumulate in the middle ear.

The Otovent method can be divided into two phases: Both phases allow the opening of the Eustachian tube.

• The inflation phase: when you inflate the balloon by blowing through your nostril.
• The deflation phase (To be used only if the inflation phase is ineffective): when you allow the air to flow from the balloon into your nostril and perform a series of swallowing movements.

It is recommended to use the inflation phase the first few times you use Otovent®. However, only if you do not feel any pressure equalization as a result of the inflation phase, should you use both phases.

Usage:

It is permitted for use by adults and children from the age of 3. Children's treatment should always be supervised by an adult.

Initially, Otovent should be used at least three times a day (morning, noon, evening). After one week, it should be used at least twice a day (morning and evening). The normal duration of treatment is 2-3 weeks, after which the doctor should decide whether to continue the treatment or not. Each medical balloon should be inflated a maximum of 20 times.

When should you not use Otovent?

You should not use Otovent if you suffer from acute middle ear infection or upper respiratory tract infection.

The balloons contain latex. If you are allergic to latex or latex products, consult your doctor before using this product. If you have any allergic symptoms, discontinue the treatment and consult your doctor.

Keep out of reach of children.

Children's treatment should always be supervised by an adult. Never use children's balloons when performing the method with Otovent, as these balloons do not provide the correct inflation pressure and the treatment may fail.

Some individuals may suffer from frequent episodes of anterior nosebleeds. The condition is bothersome but harmless; any action in the nose can cause an episode (nose picking, nose blowing, or balloon inflation). Usually, the condition can be easily treated with a visit to an ENT doctor.
