One of the best board games I have played. The rules are very simple, at least for an experienced player, but it is difficult to win because every move counts, just like in chess. It is quite interesting as it is one of those board games where luck plays a minimal to no role (no dice involved). Essentially, each player starts with specific cards, which are their actions. In each round, they have the right to take one action, meaning to play one card and discard it. There is a card that allows you to move on the map, a card to buy new cards/actions, a card to retrieve the cards you have discarded, and so on. The goal of the game is to move on the map and claim territories, in other words, to build houses. But what makes the game unique is that you don't just win by building, you also win by combining the cards you acquire during the game, meaning you have to collect the right cards according to the strategy you have chosen in order to gather points. These are the basic rules, and with a couple of videos on YouTube, you will fully understand it during a game. It is a highly upgraded game if someone has played Settlers of Catan or Stone Age. I would not recommend it to people who are completely new to board games, not because they will find it difficult to learn, on the contrary, the rules are easy, but they need to invest a little more effort than someone with some experience with Euro games. Also, not for people who want strong player interaction, meaning conflict like in Risk or Kemmet.

  • A medium-weight tabletop game, with wonderful mechanisms that we really like. The first time you play, the rules may seem overwhelming, but already from the second play, it flows wonderfully. There is no particular competition between players (everyone focuses on their own work). During the game, you have a sense of the score, but the points are counted at the end, and many times the differences are small between the first and second place, so you basically don't know who will win until the end.
The pieces are of good quality, except for the box which has thin cardboard.
In each new game, the setup is different, so it's hard to get bored, and of course, in each round, you would like to do 10 things, but you have to choose one, so you really feel like you constantly have to make important decisions...
    A very nice game ️️

Maybe the best board game I have. And I have around 100...! The rules are a 4-page, along with the examples, which take up half the pages!

    The game is captivating.

Incredible game. Very deep with relatively simple rules. I struggle to find any negative aspect apart from the occasional card race that happens for purchasing, ending the game prematurely, and the lack of theme, which personally doesn't bother me.

Trade in the Mediterranean during the Roman Empire:

+It is impressive how much depth the game has with such a small volume of rules.
+It pushes you to think several rounds ahead in order to optimize your development.
+Once players become familiar with the game, the rounds are quite fast, without tiresome waiting.
+The variety created by the setup in each game differentiates it to a satisfactory degree.
+The components are quite beautiful and of high quality.
+/-Scoring is done exclusively after the game is completed. Some people enjoy the suspense of counting, while others would prefer to have a picture of how they are doing as they play.
-The board is "overloaded" and "unreadable" in the final rounds.
