My first contact with Fernando Pessoa's "The Guardian of the Flocks" was revelatory. Like with other great and beloved works, I felt that I needed to give it more time. Thus, my second encounter with this hymn to Nature came about in the spring of 2009. This second reading proved to be striking and fruitful, and thus this conversation was born as a cry of anguish for all those things that, by redefining the measure of our lives, we must do, even if it's just the bare minimum, without any further delay for the planet that hosts us, seeing ourselves not as the entirety of the universe, but as a part of it.
