Description
With this edition, the author continues (after "The Guards of the Fig Tree", 2011) to bring to the surface memories of ordinary people, from the great war to the present day. There is some color... literary license. However, the author's imagination was lacking here, it was not needed after all.
Main stories are presented, vividly given, and some incredible... the ones we call heroic. The anger for the timeless injustice dominates the writings about the culprits, with the crime that our people and other peoples experience its consequences.
The content of the third part is presented as recorded in the 90s in discussions with a simple woman who lived until the end of the last century with the wisdom and culture of her generation. Through these, one discovers some customs, but also a side of everyday struggle, mainly of the Mothers... at least those who lived in a village.
The apology that Kakaras asked from his then upcoming grandson with "The Guards of the Fig Tree" is repeated today towards the second one. Because they did not find the world better than his generation first experienced. And he dedicates this book to them, without hiding his bitterness because, yes, the system, capitalism, etc. are to blame, but he and his generation also somewhere found solace.
