Description

When photographer Paul Raymont loses his leg after an accident with his bicycle, he sees his solitary life change permanently, regardless of his personal desires and choices. He returns to his bachelor apartment in Adelaide and stubbornly refuses the solution of prosthetics, but at the same time, he is greatly bothered by the fact that he suddenly has to depend on others. Flashbacks to the sixty years of his life reinforce his despair and fatalistic attitude, until the moment he realizes that he has started to fall in love with Marijana, his Croatian nurse, a practical and down-to-earth woman who struggles to support her family in a foreign country. Paul's thoughts now focus on how to win her heart. It is precisely then that the mysterious author Elizabeth Costello appears in his life and challenges him to take control of his life.

The struggle that Paul Raymont is called to give on various levels to prove his humanity is recorded in the absolute and uncompromising style of Koutsi, and the result is a deeply moving story about love, passion, and mortality.
