Description

The electric guitar GRG170DX is aimed at musicians and guitarists who desire an affordable yet reliable guitar with excellent sound and ease of play. The GRG series by Ibanez is a good choice for beginners or professional guitarists looking for an affordable guitar with high build quality.

HSH Pickup Configuration (Humbucker-Single Coil-Humbucker)

In the HSH pickup configuration, there are two single-coil pickups in the bridge and neck positions, and one humbucker pickup in the middle. This setup offers a wide variety of sounds to the guitarist.

The single-coil pickup in the bridge position offers a clear, distinct sound that is ideal for speed and playing at high frequencies.

The single-coil pickup in the neck position offers a warmer and fuller sound that is better for playing at lower frequencies, while the middle humbucker pickup provides a balanced sound that is ideal for rhythm playing and solos.

Additionally, the Ibanez pickups are passive and do not require external power to operate. Specifically, passive pickups work using magnetism and produce a signal that is inversely proportional to the movement of the strings.

Neck construction from Maple wood

The Maple wood used in the neck is an important element for the guitar's acoustics, as it produces a bright and precise tone resulting from the wood's hardness.

Body construction from Poplar wood

The Poplar wood used in the guitar's body offers a balanced sound with an emphasis on the mid and low frequencies, performing well even in more intense playing.

Classic ST Body Shape

The ST body shape it features follows the lines of one of the most widespread electric guitars, like the Stratocaster. Its design has a double-cut body for access to the highest frets and an extended "horn" on the upper side that offers perfect balance during upright playing.

With a wide range of supporters, including Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Holly, David Gilmour, and Jeff Beck, it is clear that the ST Style shape can handle virtually any musical style.

Fretboard made of durable Purpleheart wood

The fretboard of the Ibanez features 24 frets and is made from very hard and durable Purpleheart wood, which does not wear easily, providing great resistance to daily use.

T102 tremolo

The Ibanez GRG170DX features a string spacing of 10.5 millimeters and a T102 bridge that allows for easier adjustment of the string height.

Reviews

  • I am a fan of IBANEZ because they are easy to play, have a thin neck, and are lightweight. They are beginner guitars so they are great for the price.

Owner of this particular one for almost 12+ years. The purchase was made right when it was released... It has never caused any problems and imagine, not many services have been done... Fast fretboard, pickups like new, excellent price for someone who is starting to play. After the first service, I didn't have any detuning at all. (!)

I did not like this specific guitar at all, it gave me problems, I did not like its sound, and overall, I believe it is a cheap guitar, not only in terms of money

Excellent choice for all guitarists, beginners and advanced. It's worth its money and more. The best guitar in its category, in my opinion.

Perfect for powerful solos with the Buffalo FX TD-X pedal! It also has a whammy bar. For sweet solos, I prefer PRS guitars with the Hermida Dover pedal (playing strictly note by note because I don't like this pedal for chords and harmonies). For strong solos like hard rock and metal, Ibanez is the first choice, with strict criteria. It is flawless. It brings out all the power of the solo. You can also play palm muting / thrash metal, but in that case, ESP clearly excels. If you play death metal, buy a seven-string ESP. For powerful solos, definitely buy the Ibanez GRG170DX Black Night. It is the first choice for this use!!! Get a good Blackstar amplifier from skroutz, a regular-sized one because small amplifiers lack depth and rich sound, while large ones have response inertia, they are dull when playing softly and create crackling in the studio. Don't get a Marshall amplifier because they usually have poorly amplified high frequencies and the problem is exacerbated with effects... especially during breaks. Put the Ibanez GRG170DX Black Night on a Blackstar amplifier worth 300 euros. If you have the money, get a Bogner amplifier, but the Blackstar fits perfectly as well. The BOSS KATANA 100W amplifier is the first choice for Death Metal with a seven-string ESP and the Caline Englishman pedal as a preamp (or with the Revv G3 Distortion pedal as the main pedal) because the KATANA has a flawless octaver. If you want the ultimate performance, do as I say. Random combinations yield mediocre results, which you pay the same for.

For powerful solos (not romantic sound), the Ibanez GRG170DX Black Night pairs perfectly with the Buffalo FX TD-X pedal! This is the ideal top combination for this specific use.

It has been in my possession for at least 4 years and it is still like new. Also, after all these years, I have not found anything better for this price.

Guys, I've had this guitar for 10-12 years, since it was released, I bought it from the store in Omonia, and it's still the same today. No fret buzz, no detuning... no buzzing pickups... nothing. Unbelievable for its price... it has been through rehearsals and rehearsals... and a couple of live performances ;) Ha ha... let me add, even yesterday I went to the studio and the guitar is still holding up well. It's worth it, guys :) Still going strong on 2-11-2020 ;) Still going on 1-4-2022
