As a owner of 2 previous Galaxy Watches, I can say that so far I have been very satisfied.
Attention!!! Anyone who wants to use the watch for calls without their mobile phone via LTE should not get an eSIM from Cosmote, but go directly to Vodafone. Specifically, with the customer service of Cosmote that I spoke to, they told me that I need to activate VoLTE on the device and WiFi Calling (which they supposedly activated as well, but I also did via SMS for safety). I explained to them that there is no such setting on the watch for VoLTE and they replied that during the investigation of the test calls, because there is no longer 3G coverage and because VoLTE does not appear on the device, it falls back to 2G (which I explained to them that the watch does not support 2G) and that’s why the calls do not go through. Of course, I have not received any update since then about what I can do (sr# 2-321527015637 if any of my former colleagues from Cosmote reads this). So the 15 euros I paid for the number and the eSIM at Cosmote were wasted.
In contrast to Vodafone, where I purchased the eSIM online and it worked immediately without any additional settings on the watch or the mobile or from the provider.
Amazing watch, worth every euro. The battery now lasts 3 days full with everything on. I was impressed by the very loud sound it has both in ringtones and in music. Be careful with the bezel on the top because it is a bit sensitive to hits (not that they are visible to the naked eye but just saying).
Purchased with pre-order, in terms of construction it has nothing to do with the previous watches of the company, it is indeed different externally, good quality with nice materials.
I think you only pay for this because there are no significant differences with the regular watch of the series.
Now, on to the important part: the ultra watch of the company after a month of use and minimal use in water gave up, all the sensors broke and obviously I am still struggling with Samsung and its after-sales service.
Maybe it was a coincidence, I don’t know, but I have started to believe that they are just doing quick fixes to release something to compete with Apple, which ultimately falls short in the details.
P.S. it’s funny how their price dropped from an initial purchase of 700 euros to being found at 500 after a month.
My last smartwatch was Galaxy Watch 3. This is like trading in a Lada for a Porsche! It is amazing. Has its own eSIM so you can have a separate data plan (warning: you will need to set this up with your phone provider and it is a little troublesome). By far the best sensors I've seen for walking, running and training. And it has an amazing watchface that truly needs no changing.
The watch being nice or not is subjective. I really like it! Aesthetically, it looks like an expensive watch, I believe. Whether it's worth the 700 euros, I'm not sure, just like the Apple Watch Ultra, I don't know if it's worth the 900€. They definitely look more expensive than the basic models and have some extra features, especially durability. Personally, I haven't regretted it coming from the Watch 6 Classic. I recommend it!
update:
After about a week, I would give it 6 stars if I could. The battery without always-on display lasts me comfortably for 2 days! It's always on, and I wear it while sleeping. So far, everything is good!
update:
The energy score and sleep tracker are impressively smart. One night I had a heavy meal, drank a beer and two glasses of wine, resulting in a notification the next morning that eating late at night and consuming alcohol wouldn't be good for me! Charging the battery takes an eternity.....
Very good watch improved compared to the galaxy watch 5 pro that I had done everything the only negative is that the battery lasts 2 days otherwise the best watch that exists
Coming from Garmin Epix, I decided to make the switch. And I don't regret it. Finally, I have a real smartwatch on my wrist. Amazing processor, the most technologically advanced in features. The only thing is that I had gotten used to the battery of the Garmin, which lasted 13 days without charging.. But for the capabilities of the Galaxy Ultra, the three full days it gives me are enough.
very powerful processor coming from samsung watch 5 pro I saw a huge difference in performance, as for the battery it easily lasts 2 full days which satisfies me. beautiful watch and worth the money if you want to have something comparable or even better than the apple watch ultra!
Appearance, accuracy in measurements, screen clarity, build quality. What good are all these if it doesn't last even a day on battery? I wonder where they say it lasts 2 days! Every time you look at it with the sensors off, it loses about 100%. A tragic purchase, especially if you've had Garmin for 6 years. I made a terrible choice. Stay away!
update 4.8.2024
I formatted the watch and did a clean installation. The battery improved quite a bit. The watch consumes with only Bluetooth on, heart rate measurement every 10 minutes, and stress monitoring on, location and Wi-Fi off, I turn Wi-Fi on 2 times a day, about 1.8% battery/hour. I don't talk on the phone and without much usage. I'll keep an eye on it and report back.
update 8.8.2024
The watch, with a few calls and minimal usage, consumes 2.5%+ per hour. During calls, I answered and spoke normally with the watch.
To begin with, let me say that first of all, I received the watch on the 19th of the month (pre-order) so I have a few days to use it to evaluate it and secondly, I have had almost all the top tier smartwatches from my hands from every company garmin, apple, huawei and some galaxy (6 classic, 5 pro etc.) so I will speak objectively. So starting I will talk about the appearance always subjectively, in the Titanium silver version at least that I have in my possession is a very presentable watch that can be worn on all occasions and at formal events. Its size is just right and does not bother during exercises. Moving on to the hardware, I will say that for the first time I am pleasantly surprised by Samsung for how smooth the experience of using the watch is, without glitches in menus and scrolling (something that existed in all its previous watches). The watch was also worn every day during sleep and does not bother in the slightest and I can say that it is quite accurate in its measurements (I am waiting for the sleep apnea detection function to come out). In calls I hear them and hear them very clearly every time I have spoken. Its screen is also quite bright (3000 nits) and one can see clearly even in very bright light that hits directly. Now let's go to the Achilles' heel (almost) of all smartwatches, its battery. With a full charge and all activated it lasts about 2 days and some hours. This time could be improved by choosing battery saving, but then you lose some of its "smart" functions. Of course I did not expect it to last 14+ days like a Garmin, but even there you lose something to have such a battery and we are talking more about a sportwatch with "some" smart functions. In conclusion, I will say that I am very satisfied with the watch and I believe it will satisfy every potential buyer in this budget.
