One Sunday morning in August, a winemaker finds a corpse on his estate. It is clear that it is a suicide: the Appellate Prosecutor and candidate for Minister of Justice, Dr. Joachim Hardenbach, has shot himself in the mouth with his hunting rifle.

However, within less than an hour, Inspector Oliver von Bodenstein and his new colleague Pia Kirchhoff are called to see a second corpse. Under a tower known for its panoramic view, a young woman has been found dead. Very soon, what at first glance seems like a suicide is actually proven to be a coldly premeditated murder.

The investigations lead the two police officers to the aristocratic riding club of the Waldhof Estate, where they learn that, while alive, Isabel, the beautiful wife of veterinarian Kerstner, was anything but beloved. According to everyone's testimonies, she cheated on her husband and was nothing but a selfish and scheming monster. The list of suspects seems endless... But when it is revealed that Isabel also knew the deceased Appellate Prosecutor - and very well, as a scandalous video proves - the case takes on a new dimension...
