Corruption and its combat had a direct relation to my work at the Bank of Greece, where I worked as an inspector for thirty-four consecutive years. During the investigation of the phenomenon of corruption on a practical and theoretical level, I continuously encountered a fundamental question: Could the global capitalist system with its secrets be characterized as corrupt?
