It’s expensive but it’s made of good/real materials and if you’re serious about feeding your beloved pet with dry food consider this brand. My dog has only been eating acana wild coast. She’s been eating it for over 8 years and looks/feels great.
Delicious as the dog hasn't gotten bored of it as quickly as previous foods. The food doesn't easily change and if the dog is in development, I don't recommend it. For my 7 kg dog, I was giving 160 grams daily, but even though he was in a growth stage, he didn't gain weight. I increased the quantity to 200 grams and the dog lost 500 grams. The coat didn't get worse and he also developed a skin condition. The dog is healthy according to the blood tests that were done. The previous food was the red one from the same company. Overall disappointed with this brand, because choosing it as the best, it ultimately didn't meet expectations.
The dog was already eating fish-based food from Hills. So, there wasn't a tremendous difference in the coat or mood. The coat remained good and the mood was good. However, he really likes it. The packaging doesn't have a zip lock. It is high-quality food with fresh ingredients, which is very good. But the fish, since it is oily, has a strong smell! So, it needs a storage container. It is a bit heavy, so we put less quantity and occasionally mix it with some boiled vegetables according to the vet's instructions. Overall, we liked it quite a bit
I have a German Pinscher, even though mine has short hair, within 3 months of giving him this food, not only did his coat start to shine, but also the shedding of his hair decreased by 70%. I say this because he is a cuddler and now I see much fewer hairs on my clothes compared to before... I only have good things to say.
Overall, I am satisfied with the quality of Acana. My dog is in very good condition, so I have it as my regular choice! Of course, he would prefer other treats, but I think that's reasonable. The stools are not completely solid, but I haven't achieved that with any food so far.
In a dog with skin problems (Staphylococcus - dermatitis) and allergies like mine, who had reached the point of losing all the fur on the lower part of his body (chest), this food really was the only thing that helped him. I had spent a lot of money on tests, medications, second opinions from doctors, and vitamins without any results. My dog is 11 years old and has been eating this food for 7 years, but strictly only this one. He is deprived of treats and biscuits due to allergies. He has grown back fur everywhere and of course, I'm not risking changing it!
