When Nike started designing the Peg 40, it took a reverse approach, literally, starting with the application of a strip in the middle of the sole for a more stable, but also more comfortable feel, giving the impression that the Peg embraces the arch of the foot in a welcoming, gentle embrace. Nike wanted the shoe's inner boundaries to be comfortable, ventilated, and provide a relaxed feel to the toes, arch, and heel, where the feet are more sensitive, with a specially designed circular pattern that allows the shoe to adapt to the shape of the foot.
