Description

Capabilities

The Makita chainsaw operates with an 18V battery, does not produce exhaust fumes, and allows you to move freely as it is not dependent on cables and sockets. The working duration depends on the battery and how charged it is. With a weight of 1.3kg and a bar length of 10cm, it is ideal for tree pruning and wood carving.
The battery and charger for the chainsaw are not included in the package and must be purchased separately.

    Verified purchase

I bought it for pruning citrus and olive trees. Very user-friendly and very lightweight with quality construction. Quiet.
Wood cutting: Awesome. If you push it too hard, it gets stuck, but if you cut slowly, it cuts perfectly. Honestly, you enjoy using it. The blade is 10cm long but it cuts thicker branches (cutting the wood all around). So, for wood up to 15-20cm in diameter, don't think about getting a gasoline one. Noise, weight, turn it on - turn it off, etc. This one is quiet (almost silent) and very lightweight.
Pruning: It's not suitable for large branches. It cuts them like butter. For branches with a diameter smaller than 3cm, it kicks back because the branch moves. As a result, it cuts the branch as if it's "mashed," I don't know how else to describe it. I don't have experience with other chainsaws like this, but I believe it's due to the nature of the tool (rough chain) and not necessarily this specific tool. Anyway, if you get used to it and cut slowly and steadily, it doesn't kick back much. Well, now, for very small branches, it's not suitable because that's not its job.
The only drawback (which other chainsaws may also have) is that the chain often gets stuck on small branches and comes off. It's easy to put it back on, but you have to unscrew the screw from the cover (by hand).
Efficiency: I pruned 15 trees and one mulberry tree, leaving only the thick branches. It consumed 2 lines from a 2Ah battery. I am very satisfied.
Other: It has automatic chain tensioning and automatic chain lubrication mechanism. Both are very convenient. As an indication, for the above branches, it consumed 50ml of oil. Chain speed is 8m/s. As information, the tool is made in China. I bought the Z series, which also comes with the Makita case (Makpac 3). It was 20€ more expensive, but it's worth it (if you want the case) because the case alone costs 45€. It also comes with a chain sharpener and 100ml of oil.
Final comments: If you have a battery from other Makita 18V tools, it might be worth getting this one. But if not, you might need to look for another more economical brand that I believe won't have a big difference in performance.
