Description

The first and independent volume of a great cyclic work that belongs to the creation of authors such as Zola, Balzac, Romain Rolland. The trilogy of Karagatsis - which includes, following "Kotzampasi", "Lost and Gained Blood" and "The Chests of Michalis" - had been described by the author himself as "biological and social history of an urban Greek family from 1821 to the present day, placed evolutionarily within the social, national, cultural, spiritual, etc. history of our country during the same period". In this first novel of the cycle, the author of "The Yellow Envelope" brings to life an entire era, the years of the Greek Revolution, with all the omissions of classical history, highlighting once again - the root and source of the whole conception - the theme around which his entire work revolves: the power of sexual instinct and its influence on the formation of individuals and societies. Karagatsis presents before us a living central character, Michalis Roussis, the famous "Kotzampasi of Kastropirgos", who becomes an outsider and a traitor because he is governed by the feeling of hedonism and because he places his life and the joys it can give him above all else.
