For 1080, it is an excellent card. When it is under heavy load and the temperature rises, the fans start to be heard. Otherwise, it is extremely quiet and is covered by the sound produced by the rest of the case.
I believe it should be placed in cases with good airflow, in order to maintain as cool as possible.
I don't understand why there is so much hate towards this graphics card. I believe that everyone doesn't recommend it because it is priced the same as the 3060 and has 8GB of VRAM. Regardless of this, it has been shown on UserBenchmark to be up to 20% better than the 3060, at the same price, and it also consumes 30% less power. In most games, the difference in frames is noticeable, where I managed to have up to 50 more FPS. It is a small graphics card, it fits in any size case, and it is relatively lightweight, so it doesn't sag either. If you find it for €300, I highly recommend it. As for the vram issue, if you don't play many AAA games, like Hogwarts Legacy, etc., you won't even notice the difference between 12 and 8GB.
The RTX 4060 is a very efficient card with a power consumption of about 115w. So we don't need a large power supply. The specific Ventus 2x that I tried is also compact in size, so it can fit in almost any case, even in mini ITX builds. It has very good temperatures and is relatively quiet. There are thousands of videos to watch performance comparisons between competitors. 4060, 7600, 6650, 3060ti, 6700xt, and whatever else is available around 300 euros.
However, no one cares about power consumption. So go ahead and buy whatever you want... whatever they sell you, and pay for it every quarter to the DEI! Let's see which one is cheaper.
50-60-80w power consumption per hour, difference x how many hours of gaming per day did we say?... for how many months?... let me see you!! So, only 4060! Because the DEI is waiting for you!... keep searching then which one gives you 5 more frames.

Once upon a time, power and consumption didn't interest anyone! Everyone was looking at performance and frames.
But now the DEI says... we're open and waiting for you!
For 300 euros, especially if the purpose of purchase is gaming... I would not recommend the card at all. There are much better deals both from Nvidia and AMD (and soon enough, with the pace at which they are improving their drivers, possibly from Intel as well). In case you are interested in a more professional workload, the purchase might be more reasonable, but again, everything depends on what you intend to use it for.
Personally, I bought it for 300 euros, one month after it was released, with the *** that JmcTech does (bless him), and still with a heavy heart because my power supply (500W) would barely run the 3060 Ti DDR6X, which you can still find the Asus model on skroutz for around 320 euros. It's a great purchase if you're looking for a new card and have a 600 or 650W power supply for productivity and want Nvidia, no doubt about it. The 115W is therefore for me the only redemption that can justify the card, a power consumption that no one can deny the mastery of TSMC and NVIDIA. Let's go back to the negatives in case they deter someone from buying it:
Even the 8GB VRAM might not be enough soon if you base your purchase on DLSS3 as it increases VRAM usage. But it's enough for 99% of modern games. (Come on guys, set the textures to high, the difference in 1080p compared to Ultra, etc., is not that huge). Okay, I'll stop with the excessive talk and to finish off, if you want it for gaming, there's the 6700xt for 330 euros on skroutz now... DO NOT BUY the card for more than 300 euros, and even at this price, consider the 6650xt or 7600 for 260 euros, unless you have a serious reason to be limited to the Nvidia environment.
It is a good graphics card with a small flaw, which is the 8GB memory. But at this price, you won't find a better graphics card for 1080p gaming and ultra settings. If you also play games that support DLSS3, it surpasses expectations and the FPS is through the roof! It is worth it for 1080p gaming.
