Description

There are three main reasons to choose the L009: better performance, more features, and some interesting quality improvements. 

The L009 features a powerful dual-core ARM processor. It offers significant improvements in routing and filtering, complex firewall rules, IPsec hardware encryption, and various advanced RouterOS functions. 

The ARM CPU architecture provides significant advantages over older MIPS-based devices. It also allows the use of all the latest Linux kernel features. 

The combination of a modern ARM CPU and a USB port is perfect for running custom tasks. For example, you could run a Pi-hole adblock on this router. Or you can use the USB to add an LTE modem of your choice. Imagination is the real limit here.

The L009 is up to 4 times faster than the RB2011 in most cases and configurations.

All ports are now Gigabit Ethernet ports. There is PoE-in on the first port. You can use it instead of the DC jack to power the unit. And there is PoE-Out on the last port – for powering other devices. Another useful addition is the SFP that supports Gigabit and 2.5 Gigabit connections. 

The new casing is an impressive innovation in itself. The case acts as a massive heatsink, protecting your device from overheating. But here’s the fun part: with a simple accessory set, you can mount up to four of these routers in a single 1U rackmount space.

    After 2 decades I picked up mikrotik again.
    As a router it works fine, it can handle quite a bit of traffic (I haven't measured, but it seems OK for advanced home use).
    As an AP it doesn't say much about range, but it's fast from the start.
    I will come back after a while...

    Edit:
    I have put pihole in a container. It works fine.
    About 50 devices are permanently connected.
    The CPU is at 0%.

    Edit2:
    Its WiFi is a bit terrible in speeds (RouterOS 7.14).
    In the same spot as the Mikrotik there is a Deco.
    Speedtest gives 50-55mbit aggressively for the mikrotik (WiFi 6/WPA3)
    98mbit for the Deco (WiFi5/WPA2).
