In this volume, narratives, mainly autobiographical, have been included. Kotzioulas, following the tradition of Papadiamantis, Vizyenos, etc., with his own vivid style and characteristic writing, sheds light on everyday incidents of Greek province and the life of his homeland. He moves in a renewed ethos, which, behind the veil of lyrical self-expression and his low voice, reveals a clear realistic, almost realistic, presentation of life.

The naivety of his heroes and himself, who are mixed with harsh everyday life and unexpected events, the natural descriptions, which are imbued with the coarseness of dialogues and the disarming sincerity of internal confessions, the caustic humor, which counterbalances the tragedy of events, and the gurgling speech of the village, which alternates with an "adapted" urban language, highlight Kotzioulas' short stories as peculiarly interesting readings for the reader. Beyond their value in relation to content and aesthetic choices, these narratives also have another important value, as they contain valuable folklore and sociological elements, as they counterbalance the romantic tradition of a provincial society.
