Description

South Africa, 1936:

When nine-year-old Bai's mother dies suddenly, everything in her life is turned upside down and her dreams are shattered. Her only companion as she grows up is her friend Nomateba, a creation of her imagination and despair. Together, they face the challenges that arise, fighting apartheid, social inequalities, and racial discrimination, and chart a difficult path in pursuit of a place in life and love.

Many years later, in the town of Sharpeville, Hope is born, the fruit of a great but doomed love. The realization of her difference, as she is not black like her mother but... almost white, pushes her to seek out her Lemnian father in neighboring Mozambique.

In a country torn apart by war to rid itself of Portuguese colonizers, Hope's path crosses with that of Tomas, a Portuguese writer and revolutionary. The two of them go through fire and iron, hoping to stay alive, free, and together.

A gripping story of strength and courage about the struggles of people who fought to change the world.
