Reviews
It is nice to travel through books and even more so when they characterize you. As a Greek, I remembered my roots and slightly got angry that basic elements of Ancient Greek history have remained in my closet. As humans, we forget, and we consider many things as granted. This particular novel was a punch in the stomach that awakened me and reminded me of who I am, where I belong. The story has many twists and keeps the interest constant. A flashback to the Twelve Gods and the rivalries, passions, battles, and deceptions that had remained pending in my mind. The Gods come alive through Vasilis Kanna's simple and understandable writing, and it constantly urges me to stay alert to find out if that Hermes statue was finally found. Ancient Greek mythology comes alive, and ultimately, you wonder if it never existed as a myth, they simply live among us. Perhaps those second thoughts ultimately play a primary role?
Anyway, this particular book took me on a sweet journey, and I don't hide my excitement as I wait for the second one. It would be sacrilege if Vasilis Kanna dedicated a book to the Gods of Olympus!
