Quite good construction, moderate volume in the speaker, very good sound with the headphones. Without the antenna cable or the headphones, it doesn't catch anything. Relatively easy to handle and very convenient in terms of its size and belt clip. If it cost 30-40€, it would be superb and deserving of 5 stars. But at 60€, I think it's too much.

Incredible reception on FM and medium wave! Fantastic stereo sound in the headphones! Very good battery economy. It has automatic shutdown after an hour that you set, so even if you forget to turn it off, it will close on its own! Using it daily, its autonomy with 2 AA batteries is months. Resistant to falls. The speaker sounds quite good in a closed space, but we don't expect much for outdoor use. An excellent little radio!

Market on 26-10-2020: In its category, it is not top! It is small, 10 centimeters in height, good construction but I think it is more suitable for use with headphones (like a walkman) rather than the built-in speaker! The Tecsun pl 118 is better in the same category (and with 1/3 of the price)! It is definitely not a classic transistor radio! However, the reception is quite good... If you want a transistor radio, I consider the Sangean SR35 to be more reliable and top-notch in all aspects, which is larger and cheaper, but analog.

The only radio that doesn't give me a headache when I listen to it, perfect sound quality! You'll love listening to it, as for the stations, it's extremely accurate in finding them, one of the most high-quality ones I've bought.

Well, read carefully what I'm about to say because it is 100% true and objective from a picky person like me who has bought countless devices and audio sources from all brands for years now!
I didn't know SANGEAN as a company. Recently, I wanted to buy a good portable radio because my Sony MP3 radio, which I had for years, broke and I must admit it had very good reception and I thought it had good sound. I said "thought" because that's what I believed until the moment I bought the SANGEAN. I thought even my phone had perfect sound, especially on the radio and in the sound quality that reached my ears through the headphones. So, I bought a Sony ICF P26, which I paid 30 euros for, and the radio is garbage. I was disappointed by both Sony and the dealership in Greece. So, in conclusion, Sony is out of the picture.

I decided to buy the SANGEAN because I had been following detailed descriptions of the world that had bought it from all over the planet for about a year. The radio is excellent in terms of construction, size, and quality of assembly materials. Its reception is exemplary. In its packaging, it has a wire antenna that enhances the reception quality, but it also plays easily without it if you want to listen from its speaker. As for its functions, it has a simple storage of 19 stations (I'm mentioning this because many people around the world say that storing stations is difficult). The AM reception is excellent, especially during the evening hours as usual. You can listen to music from all over the world with excellent reception. The switch between FM/AM bands is very simple due to the excellent ergonomics of the frequency selection buttons. The time and clock setting is very useful. The screen backlighting is very good with excellent visibility of the digits. The buttons are very quiet when pressed, which is very important and not mentioned in the thousands of descriptions I have read. Its batteries last quite a long time. I use rechargeable 2500 mAh batteries, and with daily use of at least two hours, they last about 2-3 weeks!

As for the sound, it's out of this world. As I mentioned at the beginning, I have many audio devices and headphones because I'm also involved in music, and I always like to have the perfect sound result. The headphones that come with it are quite good, but they are the classic cushioned headphones that don't isolate 100% of the noise from the environment, and obviously, you don't have high expectations for achieving the absolute volume you desire. However, they are excellent in terms of sound quality, comfortably balanced with proper bass! What sets this radio apart is its sound quality. In songs, you can hear almost all the musical instruments in detail, as if you're listening to each channel that was recorded in the studio. You can hear the vocals and harmonies with great detail. In foreign songs that have percussion, you can hear them separately, and when you remove one earphone, you hear different instruments in one ear and others in the other. If you listen to songs from stations (e.g. Cosmos FM) that play African, American, Spanish, Brazilian, etc. music, you will hear musical instruments and frequencies in detail that you have never heard before. Other devices may be stereophonic, but they play so dull that they have nothing to do with the SANGEAN.

In terms of music volume, the built-in speaker is satisfactory and it surprised me how such a small speaker can produce such a relaxing sound that you can listen to all day without getting tired, unlike other speakers of this size. The volume on the headphones is also satisfactory and with the DBB option, it gives extra bass and volume to the music you listen to, creating a perfect sound.

The volume is not something that you can turn up to the maximum without it getting distorted. It gets distorted at very high volume. I have bought earphones that go inside the ear for sound isolation in an external environment, JBL being the top brand and Panasonic in a headband style for home use. With both headphones, the sound is excellent. Of course, I have also tried it with Sony MDR, Sennheiser, and Beats, all of them have something unique to offer and you can hear the perfect sound from a small radio that deserves all the praise!
