The A-S201 was created by leveraging this rich experience and high technological know-how. Based on the concept of "Natural Sound," for reproducing all music as it truly sounds, and meticulously crafted from circuit design to basic sound production.
The A-S201, with high power 100W x 2, features a high-quality sound design that minimizes signal path length and optimizes circuit layout. Placing the power transformer near the amplifier circuit reduces losses while improving power supply capability to allow for high output.
The signal grounding and power supply grounding are connected at one point, eliminating interference to achieve a higher S/N ratio. The result is a rich sound with clarity.
The A-S201 inherits the simple and refined design style for which Yamaha HiFi audio is renowned. With a sleek hairline finish, it harmonizes beautifully with the rest of the HiFi audio equipment. The control buttons and volume knobs demonstrate simplicity and ease of use.
Activating the Pure Direct switch causes the audio signal to bypass the control circuits for bass and treble, balance, and the back buffer amplifier. This improves sound quality, helping to reproduce even the most subtle musical nuances.
The A-S201 features an MM phono input terminal for connecting a record player. The total of five input terminals means it can serve as the central unit for different types of audio systems.

The YAMAHA A S201 falls short with its advertised 100+100 watt output and actually produces 60+60WATT RMS at 8ohm.
The Yamaha A S301 delivers 70+70 watt RMS at 8ohm.
The Yamaha A S501 provides 85+85 watt RMS at 8ohm.
The Yamaha A S701 offers 100+100 watt RMS at 8ohm.
It also slightly overwhelmed the speaker regardless of which speakers I used. However, when I connected it to genuine, expensive speakers with a power of 80 watt RMS each, it performed much better than the others
The amplifier of Yamaha is very good, it produces a nice and high-quality sound. The volume starts and increases gradually from 50 and above, which is good because many other amplifiers start at 15. It has a power output of 100W+100W, which is quite strong. It has multiple outputs for various devices such as CD players and turntables, etc. It is definitely worth the money and also has a unique sound texture that other brands haven't achieved. Buy it without hesitation!
Very good for its price, but keep in mind that at high volumes the distortion increases significantly, something that of course happens in the majority of amplifiers operating in the same class. It was called to drive a classic pair of moderately sensitive (88db) speakers, B&W P4, fully rebuilt. The sound is pleasant and quite detailed (from a digital source with USB DAC Topping D10), but in order for the speaker's transmission line to "excite" and deliver proper bass, the volume had to be turned up a lot, and the overall sound balance left a sour taste. With all that, I decided to do a general service on the existing amplifier (an Audio Analogue Primo first generation, 20 years old), which, truth be told, when things got tough, outperformed the A-S201 without hesitation. Of course, the aforementioned service will cost almost as much as the new A-S201, but I judged that it is worth the extra effort. I assume that with an easier load, it will perform much better, and in any case, it is a honest and well-built amplifier. It just wasn't for me...
If it had another star, I would give it to him.... perfect in everything. After two months of use, all I have to say is that Yamaha did its miracle again. Clean sound, high end... The intensity is given after its 40 percent.
The amplifier was purchased out of necessity due to a problem with my previous one, and until it is repaired. I always had YAMAHA in mind and I believe that it stands out from the competition in "series" machines. However, I did not expect such sound quality at all. When the amplifier started playing, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Truly wonderful Natural Sound, as YAMAHA proudly claims. The amplifier is placed in a room of about 12 square meters. The cd Rega Planet is used as the sound source, driving the Audio Vector Signature S II speakers, which are particularly demanding and difficult to drive. And yet, the "little one" handles them just fine. Of course, the volume needs to be turned up to about 3/4 of the total output or even higher in order to fully enjoy the music's detail. The bass and treble are wonderful, without any muddiness or distortion.
The main thing is that the amplifier is MUSICAL. It delivers every detail of the music perfectly, whether it's a rock guitar or an orchestral oboe. The sound is crisp, it flows beautifully, and the positioning of the instruments in the space is amazing.
The ability to adjust the treble and bass by +- 10 db can correct any issues with the recording or the room, allowing everyone to listen to the music the way they want. The Balance control is only on the remote control, but that's probably not a problem. The fact that it has a Phono output, something that the "big" amplifiers snubbed, personally excites me as a vinyl lover. It has outputs for two pairs of speakers, which can also be used for bi-wiring.
If someone is truly a music lover, as it should be heard, then this amplifier will leave them completely satisfied. Wonderful for entry-level level, it costs only around 200 euros and offers a lot.
Highly recommended, I repeat, for those who love real music and don't want to spend a fortune.
