In this book, twelve studies written from 1993 to 2010 are collected in a processed, revised, or enriched form. Most of them were published during the same period. The common axis of the twelve studies, which justifies the title of the book, is the examination of poets' work and the exploration of poetic phenomena that developed during the period of 1880-1930, a period in which the transition from the so-called "traditional" to modern poetry took place. It is considered a transitional period for Greek poetry. Specifically, the book examines aspects of the poetic work of C.P. Cavafy, Kostis Palamas, Angelos Sikelianos, Lorentzos Mavilis, Stefanos Marzokis, Kostas Uranis, and other poets. It also explores two poetic anthologies, by Ioannis Polemis (1910) and Tellos Agras (1922), the pseudo-revival of ancient meters, and interwar karyotakismos. The subtitle of the book, "Interpretive and philological (re)considerations," indicates the dual aim for the interpretation of poetic texts to be combined with the philological repositioning of their creators and, possibly, in some cases, the reassessment of previous views and judgments.
