Description

Friendship does not seem to have a particular homeland. It is created between people of different social classes, different spiritual levels, different origins, and different cultures. It creates a special magnetic communication, something similar to love.
In this book, Eugene from the tobacco fields of Kavala, still a child, experiences the first ethnic conflicts, and later, during the Occupation, he witnesses a national unity turning into a civil war in Athens. Despite the difficulties, he studies Chemistry at the Chemistry Institute on Solonos Street.
Gershom, a child of famous German chemists from Munich, experiences the hatred of emerging fascism and seeks refuge with his mother in England. There, he studies at one of the best universities, Oxford.
The two of them, with different social classes, origins, and cultures, will find themselves in a new state that emerges on top of an ancient civilization... Israel. Between them, a friendship will develop, which only death could dissolve.
Eugene will continue his journey to America with Dina, whom he met at the steps of the Chemistry Institute on Solonos Street and who was always with him, to experience the great power up close. There, a new friendship will develop with Mas, an American of Japanese descent who becomes a victim of his skin color.
Eugene and Dina, without being tempted by the sirens of prosperity, return to their homeland to contribute to the effort to heal its wounds.
