One of the few books by Krishnamurti that is not based on speeches, dialogues, and discussions with others, but is written by himself, is his Diary. Almost all the days in the diary begin with an exceptionally observant and poetic description of nature, showing how deeply connected what he said was with it, as shown in the following excerpt:

... If you lose contact with nature, you lose contact with humans. If there is no relationship with nature, then you become a killer; then you kill the baby seals, whales, dolphins, and humans, either for profit or for "sport," for food or for acquiring knowledge. Then nature is afraid of you and withdraws its beauty. You may wander for long walks in the forests, you may camp in beautiful places, but you are a killer and thus lose their friendship. Perhaps you have no relationship with anyone, not with your wife or husband; you are too busy – or occupied – with what you are gaining and what you are losing, with your personal thoughts, with the pleasure and pain you feel. You live in your own dark isolation, and your escape from it brings more darkness. Your interest is focused on a meager survival, thoughtless, relaxed or violent. And thousands die of hunger or are slaughtered because of your irresponsibility. You leave the ordering of the world to the liars, the corrupt politicians, the intellectuals, the authorities. Because you have no integrity, an immoral society, a society based entirely on selfishness, is allowed to be built. And then you escape from all this, for which only you are responsible, to the seashores and forests...
