Pathfinder is a franchise of Tabletop RPG similar to Dungeons & Dragons.

The current game, Wrath of the Righteous, plays like the namesake campaign of the series, where you play as a typical CRPG like Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, and after a few Chapters, you become the leader of the 5th Crusade and have to manage your areas and your army.

Story-wise, you are a character who was injured on the outskirts of Kenabres, the city located near the front line of the war with the demons overflowing from the Worldwound, a passage to hell that opened long ago and since then, 4 failed crusades have been made to stop them. The temporary peace does not last, as shortly after your arrival, the demons find a way and enter the city, killing the dragon that protects it and threatening to destroy the shield that prevents them from conquering the rest of the world. The story is often more interesting than Kingmaker, and the biggest improvements are seen in 2 points. The first is the companions you find, who are fantastically well-written and you want to learn more about them. The second is the ability to choose a mythic path as the story progresses, where while typically in these games you are the chosen one, here you can choose what kind of chosen one you will be, with the ability to become an Angel, Demon, Dragon, Lich, Swarm, Aeon, Devil, or other deities.

Like other games of its kind, the game forgets that it is a video game and operates with the rules of the Tabletop. This means that everything is measured by dice, and you have to do the math for your statistics in your head. You will need to know how to translate that Armour Class (AC) means Chance to avoid, Attack means chance to hit, and Saving throw means chance to resist, all represented by a dice. Unlike Kingmaker, things here are more accessible, with special cases of enemies appearing later, the tutorial explaining the terms more gradually, and there is no time pressure. It is still difficult to learn, but not like the previous one. You can activate the Turn Based mode at any time, and it is almost necessary for the more difficult battles. You can automate the Base management parts if you don't want to deal with them.

Finally, the game offers 24 classes with about 6-8 subclasses for each, and 13 Prestige Classes for those who meet the prerequisites, with the ability to multiclass, and believe it or not, your past, your origin, your profession, the god you serve, your race, the conditions of your birth, and whether you voted for New Democracy or PASOK all play a role.

The graphics are satisfactory. In the PS4 version, it is much more difficult to put a custom portrait on your character, which is very difficult to make resemble your photo, but it doesn't matter as 99% of the time you will see them top down from a distance. Voice acting is only present in important dialogues and is satisfactory, but where the game stands out is in the fantastic soundtrack.

If you expect a similar experience to the recent Baldur's Gate 3 in terms of visuals, you will have to wait a lot longer. Such games are rarely made with such detail, and there are no other CRPGs like BG3 with so much work on graphics and voice acting.

The game is huge, with 100 hours of gameplay and endless replayability. The DLCs are NOT included on the disc as this version was simultaneous with the regular release. The DLCs are still coming out and many are seamlessly integrated into the playthrough as if they were part of the game from the beginning.

I recommend the game to those with experience and patience with Tabletop C-RPGs, preferably with pathfinder, and I suggest getting it on PC as it becomes more cumbersome with controls. It is definitely a class above Kingmaker. If you want something more accessible, I definitely recommend Baldur's Gate 3, which is much better in all aspects, except for variety and is easier for beginners.
