The journey through the nightclubs of the provinces is the most beautiful part of my life and it is what helped me escape the conventional life of the theater and discover the dream. I mingled with priestesses of the stage, the night, love, and passion and let myself be swept away by the charm of a world that sprang from the pages of literature. I saw so much passion in the night that I feel happy because I was there to feel it and describe it to you.

The heroines of my book are women who were unexpectedly brought into the spotlight and –oh, the miracle!– suddenly everything they had dreamed of for so many years in their shabby, off-plan lives became true… Who would have imagined that the unfortunate woman toiling day and night in the factory would become an object of desire for half the population of the provincial town? Who would have known that the time would come when, instead of waiting in line for unemployment benefits, expensive vehicles would park outside the hotel and every wish of hers would become a command?

Many friends wonder how magical these nights can be, as I say in my book, since they break people, except for a few who survive. At night you either live or die… but you certainly do not vegetate. At night we felt like participants in a spectacular performance, with an invisible director giving the orders and the regulars, ordinary people, transforming into lords against the landfill of their drab lives…
