Doctor Pelagia Antoniadi arrives in modern-day Smyrna. Following the instructions left by her namesake grandmother, she will discover a lost treasure: the hidden letters from 1922 and her grandmother's diary.

She begins to read them and through them, she will get to know the old city, as well as her grandmother Pelagia's great love, Doctor Alexandros Kallergis, who had saved her life. And then came the great fire and the destruction. Pelagia, having lost everything, including her beloved, arrives in Athens as a fugitive. With great effort, she will stand on her feet. But she will never rest and one day she will put her daring plan into action: she will return once again to the destroyed Smyrna to find Alexandros.

However, she does not know that she has embarked on the greatest adventure of her life. Because her journey in Asia Minor will be a journey into the unknown… perhaps even towards death.
