Having grown up orphaned and in poverty, the governess Jane Eyre finds love in the person of Mr. Rochester, the stern and distant owner of the isolated mansion where she works. In the wild moors of Thornfield, however, nothing is as it seems. 

Dark secrets and betrayals come to light and continue to disturb the life of the heroine, whose troubles do not end easily. She then decides to leave Thornfield and finds refuge in Morton, at the home of the pastor St. John. She teaches poor girls and is ready to follow him to India to help him in his missionary work. But her love for Rochester drives her to return and seek him out…
