Description

A small province, where the man and the mother-in-law dominate. Girls, who from a young age dream of marriage and evolve into oppressed, exhausted and bitter women. In this society, Aemilia will find herself, leaving the capital in 1937, when she agrees to marry the musician and songwriter Damo.

In her village, where locals and refugees coexist after the Exchange, the majority of the inhabitants will treat her with suspicion and call her "the Capital Girl". There she will meet and bond with Sonia, the famous bridal fashion designer, the betrayed Katina, the young Anitta, who is forced to marry a man she does not love due to youthful foolishness, and Nina, who has the courage to live her life as she pleases.

It is one week into her marriage when the fire, which destroyed her sisters in Pontus, destroys her life once again. Damo abandons her with his parents and goes to Thessaloniki. However, the war that will come will drastically change their lives and overturn many established norms.

The first signs of resistance by women who suffocate in the provincial society in which they live, where the word of the man is an unwritten law.

Very good! Pleasant reading that flows without ever realizing how time passes. I would like it slightly more concise, but still it is wonderful.
