The text of Plato Rodokanakis is presented in this edition, as it was published in installments in the newspaper Empros. The duplications and variations of words, even in proper names, as well as the consistently repeated misspellings, have been preserved. After research and comparison with other texts by the author published in the press around the same period, it was observed that the duplication and variation of words are a practice of the author, as well as a characteristic of the journalistic language of his time. Moreover, by maintaining the spelling and syntax, the distinctive nature of Plato Rodokanakis' writing is highlighted, which is subject to the demands of the medium that presents it to the wider reading audience. It is worth noting that since the text is published in installments in a newspaper, sometimes it is unreadable, mainly due to a problem that occurs during printing. In these cases, only angular brackets are used. Plato Rodokanakis, having as main sources for his work the Chronographia of Michael Psellos, as well as the information mentioned by K. N. Sathas in the introduction preceding the text of the Chronographia of the Byzantine historian, composes a peculiar text, a palimpsest, where besides the main narrative dominated by the parathematic speech, extensive digressions, anachronisms, and vivid descriptions appear, which have a particular functional significance in the narrative organization of the discourse, while simultaneously forming the structure of an extremely complex and multifaceted text.
