It was purchased as a replacement for the Aeroccino, which after 5 years suddenly decided not to "wake up" one morning. It is excellent, I was looking for something cheaper than the original Nespresso ones, which have reached 80+, and it has made me extremely satisfied for the 31€ I bought it. It makes excellent thick frothed milk when hot, and it also has 4 different functions (thick hot frothed milk, light hot frothed milk, simple heating, and cold frothed milk). All the functions produce excellent results and I am amazed! Compared to the aeroccino, the only thing it lacks is the build quality, this one has a lot of cheap plastic, while the other one was almost all aluminum. However, given the price difference, I cannot consider it a negative and deduct a star in any case.

Disappointed with the purchase, I was swayed by the positive reviews. It produced very good froth on the first setting only, with a little more milk than the minimum. On the second setting, it had froth on top and liquid at the bottom. Very difficult to clean without getting the base or buttons wet. After the first few uses, the milk started to burn occasionally. Despite careful cleaning and not using it every day, after a month it started acting crazy and wouldn't turn on or as soon as I placed it on the base, all the buttons would start flashing like crazy. It burned out within two months.

  For hot frothy milk I have no opinion since I only make cold for freddo in the summer and it comes out fine obviously it will be even better in the heat.   Very good for the money compared to more expensive ones. For what it is made for, it does it very well....!!! The only negative is that I would prefer it to have a groove on the edge so that the frothy milk pours better into the cup. I would prefer it to have a detachable container because it requires attention when cleaning...!!! I use whole milk with 3.6 fat, although it also makes frothy milk with 1% fat, I just personally don't like the taste. As for the quantity for frothy milk, either cold or hot, I fill the milk until it covers the wire from the whisk and not the whole whisk because the amount that comes out is enough for 2 espressos. It's best not to use it at the minimum because the milk burns. It's better to have a little leftover, which I personally drink plain. It's good when it finishes automatically to lightly tap the jug on a smooth surface and mix the mixture with the jug manually to homogenize the cream. It's good to let it finish on its own and not interrupt any function too quickly because a small amount of milk remains at the bottom. As for some comments about the second level of hot frothy milk, it's normal for it to remain liquid at the bottom because it's simply for making latte espresso, which doesn't require very rich frothy milk. Let's not write something when we don't know the use...!!!!

  Update: After daily use 2-3 times a day and careful cleaning, it works perfectly without any problems, even after 8 months since I bought it. I can't understand some negative comments regarding durability in use; they probably bought a defective product or are not using it correctly..!!!

Personally, I prefer the thin one as it leaves the milk at the bottom and the froth on top, which stays for a long time. The milk I use is barista type, like the ones they have in coffee shops.   First, it heats the milk excessively on the second setting that I use for frothy milk, and to fix it, I take it out at 1.10 to 1.15 minutes per hour instead of the 1.30 it has on its own. A big downside for me.
  Second, the mixer inside is NOT magnetic and it's very easy to forget and lose it due to a mistake, it keeps falling off and it annoys me.
  My old one didn't have any of these two disadvantages and I could easily wash it without worrying about water getting inside and causing damage.

  After several liters of milk that turned into frothed milk in various preparations, let's see the pros (but also the cons) of this milk frother device.

  First impressions

  Inside the packaging of the Gruppe MK5002 milk frother, you will find the device itself in black color, the lid, the base, the stirring tool, and the user manual.

  The device is quite high-quality, more than I would expect for €40. It has a handle for greater convenience, something that you would generally expect all milk frothing devices to have, but no, something that Nespresso remembered to add to the Aeroccino after a decade.

  At the bottom of the device, there are the function selection buttons and the On/off button, with the necessary indicators and lighting. It has 4 functions, for hot and rich foam, for hot and thin foam, only heating without foam, and only foam without heating, meaning cold frothed milk.

  Inside the jug, there are indicators for maximum and minimum capacity, which are 300ml maximum for milk heating and 150ml and 75ml maximum and minimum for frothed milk, respectively. There is also the slot for the stirring whisk.

  There is no removable jug, so cleaning should be done with care. Obviously, it cannot be put in the dishwasher.

  The base is rotatable 360 degrees with a 90 cm long cable. The preparation can be done with or without the use of the lid.

  The preparation takes 90 seconds, a normal time, neither too fast nor too slow. I don't know how important this is and how much difference it will make to the user, whether it takes 10 seconds more or less.

  Testing

  I tried to make as many different milk frothing preparations as I could, with the most common types of milk that most people use at home, namely whole milk, low-fat milk, and evaporated milk.

  The tests were done with quantities of 75, 120, and 150ml of milk for milk frothing, with more or less the same results. I note that I found 120ml to be the ideal quantity for most common drinks.

  Hot frothed milk: In both functions, that is, with rich foam and with thin foam, the results were very good. The device prepared the frothed milk as it should, ideally with whole milk and evaporated milk (50% milk and 50% water).

  Cold frothed milk for freddo cappuccino: Thick and creamy, the frothed milk for cold drinks, in most cases for the average user, that is, for freddo cappuccino, was excellent. I achieved the best result with low-fat milk and evaporated milk (50% milk and 50% water).

  Milk heating: No problem with heating the milk. The milk heated up sufficiently without burning, and in my test with powdered chocolate, the result was as expected. The chocolate dissolved quickly in the milk, and the drink was at the right temperature. Perhaps here is where the limitation of the maximum quantity of 300ml is evident, depending on the need, more milk may be needed for a richer portion.

  In most milk frothing devices, the best results for hot frothed milk are achieved with whole milk, while for cold frothed milk, low-fat milk is preferred.

  Final impressions

  There are similar devices on the market with larger and much larger capacities of 500, 600, 700+ ml, so the final choice depends on the needs of each user. In the case of the Gruppe MK5002, 150ml is enough for 1-2 cappuccinos, which I consider reasonable for the average user.

  One, let's say negative, of this particular device for users with large palms like myself, is a small relative difficulty in fitting the hand inside the jug for removal and especially for applying the stirring wing, which is not magnetic like the Nespresso Aeroccino (or other devices that I am not familiar with) and needs to be attached to the plastic receptacle.

  In any case, the result in all preparations is excellent and in the price range of around €40, I could highly recommend it to those who have a capsule machine without a built-in milk frother, even to owners of automatic/semi-automatic espresso machines who do not want to go through the trouble of preparing milk froth with the steam wand, something that requires a lot of practice. And between us, when you go for such a solution, you are more interested in convenience, speed, and the final result, something that the Gruppe MK5002 does very well.

  It cleans very easily. And I also add to the warnings, be careful not to pour water into the receptacle outside (both the base and the container). If you do, dry it very well.
  I have had it for 8 months and I hope for a long time. It makes amazing hot and cold frothy milk. But it also depends on the type of milk you use. Avoid condensed milk (diluted of course), it does not make good frothy milk and it doesn't taste as good.
  Only use regular milk from the refrigerator, preferably with little to no fat.
  Follow the minimum quantity limit with CARE! Never use less.

  Excellent device for perfect frothed milk in minutes!!
  Before this device, I used another (very popular) one that worked with a magnetic head. For a while, it worked well and made satisfactory frothed milk. However, there came a time when one worked and one didn't due to the magnet.
  I replaced it with this Gruppe one, which operates differently and not with something magnetic, which had disappointed me.
  The Gruppe device is very user-friendly, high-quality, makes perfect frothed milk whether hot (it has two options for the thickness of the froth) or cold, has automatic shut-off once the frothed milk is ready, and is very easy to clean.
  Cleaning it is very easy because it has an inner coating, and the only thing to be careful about is not to let water go into the bottom during washing.
  In summary, I would say it is an excellent choice for someone to enjoy high-quality frothed milk in a Cappuccino or Freddo.

  I had purchased this milk frother on January 13, 2022, and it worked perfectly, producing high-quality frothed milk. In August (after 6 months), it stopped functioning properly (it would heat the milk but not froth it).   I am very satisfied with the purchase of the device. It makes perfect hot frothy milk, for cold it was okay but for hot it is truly exceptional! It is worth its money. I no longer need to buy coffee outside. The only thing that is a bit difficult is cleaning it because it has the heating element underneath and it requires attention not to let too much water fall and if you want to make two cups of frothy milk (at least in the hot version that I have tried), it is better to do it in two batches because it overflows if you even fill it up to the maximum level indicated by the jug. But really, compared to the amazing coffee I drink, this is a minor issue.
  P.S. I forgot to mention, because I read from others that it doesn't make good frothy milk, the prerequisite for good frothy milk is to use full-fat milk for hot and low-fat milk for cold.
