This manual aims to fill a gap in Greek medical literature, which lacks books that assist the clinician in managing patients with acid-base and electrolyte disorders. These disorders are common in clinical practice and significantly increase patient morbidity and mortality.

In this work, which is the result of my extensive experience and involvement with these disorders, the basic principles of the physiology and pathophysiology of acid-base and electrolyte disorders are outlined, and their causes, symptoms, diagnostic approach, and appropriate management are analyzed in an inductive manner.

A number of tables facilitate better understanding of the text. In the final chapter, real patient cases with acid-base and electrolyte disorders are discussed. This allows readers to combine theory with clinical practice and assess their knowledge.

I would like to sincerely thank my students and young doctors, as well as my valuable collaborators, who have been and continue to be a constant challenge and inspiration for the writing of this book.
