Description

"For a large part of her life, my mother lived in poverty and need, on the margins, broken and often humiliated by the violence of men. Her existence seemed to be completely defined by the dual dominance exerted upon her, the dominance of class and male dominance. And yet, one day, at the age of forty-four, she rebelled against this life, left, and gradually built her freedom. The book is the story of this transformation."

Another very good book by Loui that follows the footsteps of his previous book, which had the theme of the relationship with the father. In this particular one, with the theme of the mother, I didn't manage to identify with it much, so I take away one star. However, it is a commendable book with a deep confessional character about his oppressed mother and all her desperate efforts to escape her predetermined fate.
