Description

The Enchiridion is considered the father of the basic principles of psychotherapy. According to him, there is only one way to be happy and that is to stop concerning ourselves with things beyond our control.

He belonged to the class of slaves and became a freedman at a later age. He himself recognized that daily life is full of difficulties and for this reason he spent his life aiming for completion and tranquility. His tranquility and calmness were legendary. It is said that his master, in order to test Epictetus' apathy, would cut the flesh of his shin with a sharp instrument. Then the slave philosopher turned and calmly said to his torturer, "You will break it." And when his bone truly broke, Epictetus added, "I told you so." From then on, he remained lame!

His behavior was that of an open-hearted, humble teacher who encouraged his students to learn to live wisely, taking their lives seriously, and he himself was the best example for them!

Through the series "The Complete Works of Epictetus" you can learn to be free, peaceful, and happy, as well as undisturbed in the face of obstacles, oppression, and coercion.

The series "The Complete Works of Epictetus," which includes the ancient text, modern Greek translation, and commentary, consists of 5 volumes. Specifically, it includes:
