Description

Shortly before the end of the summer of 1990, five friends camp by a lake in southern Sweden. They have just graduated from high school and this is the farewell night of their adolescence. They have fun drinking alcohol, playing music, and swimming. However, the next morning, the lifeless body of one of them is floating in the lake. The police classify the incident as a tragic accident and close the case file.

Twenty-seven years later, the police chief retires and is replaced by Anna Vesper, an experienced officer transferred from Stockholm. Anna soon realizes that the accident remains an open wound.

After the violent death of a man who had been at the lake with the children on that fateful night in 1990, Vesper decides, despite warnings, to reopen the case, which is still vivid in the memory of the residents and continues to haunt them.

An exciting crime novel that keeps the reader's interest undiminished until the last page, nominated for the Swedish Academy of Crime Writers' Award in 2017. It has been translated into 11 languages.
